          Product Information

Aquamarine Rune Set with Velvet Pouch

Runes originate in early Germanic and Nordic societies, where they were used as a writing system and as symbolic markings. They appear on rune stones, tools, weapons, and everyday objects, serving to record names, ownership, and significant events. Within Nordic tradition, runes are closely linked to myth, poetry, and the practical worldview of the North.

          Set Contents

This set consists of a total of 25 rune stones: all 24 runes of the Elder Futhark and one unmarked blank stone. The runes are evenly sized and well balanced, making the set suitable for handling, study, and display.

          Material and Craftsmanship

The runes are crafted from natural aquamarine stone. Known for its light, clear tones and fine crystalline structure, aquamarine gives each rune a distinctive appearance. Every stone is individually cut and polished, resulting in natural variations in color and texture that highlight the material’s origin. The set is supplied with a velvet pouch for storage and protection.

          Runes Today

Today, rune stones are primarily appreciated as collector’s items, historical references, and objects connected to Nordic symbolism. Some people also choose to use runes in personal or symbolic practices. This aspect is interpreted individually and is not the primary focus of this product.

          Who This Set Is For

This aquamarine rune set is intended for collectors, enthusiasts of Nordic history, and those who value traditional symbols and natural stone materials. It is not mass produced, but a carefully assembled set that combines cultural heritage with solid craftsmanship.

          History and Symbolic Meaning

History of Runes, Runestones and Rune Gemstones

Runes are ancient symbols that originated in Northern Europe and were used by Germanic and Norse cultures from around the 2nd century AD. They formed early writing systems, such as the Elder Futhark, and were used not only for communication but also for marking ownership, memorials and important events.

Runestones are large stones carved with runes, commonly erected during the Viking Age. They often served as memorials for the dead, markers of territory, or expressions of social status and belief. Many runestones combine text with symbolic imagery, reflecting mythology, honor and ancestral memory.

Rune gemstones are a modern interpretation inspired by these ancient traditions. By engraving runes onto gemstones, historical symbolism is combined with natural materials. While traditionally runes carried cultural and spiritual meaning, today rune gemstones are mainly appreciated for their symbolic value, craftsmanship and connection to Nordic heritage rather than for any functional or mystical effect.

Together, runes, runestones and rune gemstones represent a lasting link between history, symbolism and material culture of the Nordic world.
